AMERICAN FORK CANYON, Utah, July 4, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah County crews are assisting a teen girl who is experiencing heat exhaustion above Silver Lake in American Fork Canyon Thursday afternoon.

Utah County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Spencer Cannon tweeted just after 5:15 p.m.:

“Search and Rescue hiking to 14 (or 12?) year old girl who is experiencing heat exhaustion above Silver Lake.”

Lone Peak Fire is also assisting, the tweet said.

“Depending on her condition, this could take several hours,” the tweet said. “She may end up walking out with help.”

Silver Lake is at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon north of Brighton Ski Resort.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
