OGDEN, Utah, Dec. 18, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Crews battled a house fire that displaced two women in Ogden on Sunday morning.

Firefighters were dispatched to a home in the area of 3200 Orchard Ave. in Ogden at approximately 9:20 a.m., said Battalion Chief Hal Van Meeteren.

“We had a report of a fire, the occupants reported the fire. Fortunately, they were able to get out in time — they’re uninjured,” Van Meeteren said. “When we arrived, our crews went in and were able to get the fire out, which apparently started in a rear bedroom. They were able to get the fire out within about 10 minutes. At this point, our efforts are just focused on investigation. We kind of want to wait before we tear things apart to get the hot spots, until the investigator makes his investigation.”

He said the two adult women displaced by the fire are being assisted by the Red Cross.

One deceased cat was found inside the home, and the occupants do have another cat which crews were able to rescue.

Van Meeteren said the damage is estimated between $20,000 and $30,000.

A total of 18 firefighters from Ogden City and South Ogden City were dispatched to fight the blaze.
