Crews battle new 100 acre wildfire in Carbon County

CARBON COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 2, 2020 (Gephardt Daily) — Crews are battling a new wildfire in Carbon County Monday.

“Resources suppressing the #WaterCanyonFire located in Carbon County near East Carbon,” said a tweet from Utah Fire Info. “Estimated at 100 acres.”

A Facebook post from Carbon County Sheriff’s Office said the fire broke out at approximately 9:30 a.m. and crews are responding with air support.

An update from Utah Fire Info at 1 p.m. said: “Update: Estimated at 100-200 acres. The fire is burning in steep terrain and moving to the north and east away from structures. One type 3 helicopter, one hotshot crew and 12 smoke jumpers are assigned.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
