AMERICAN FORK, Utah, Feb. 22, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Fire crews were called to the scene of a structure fire at 535 N. 500 East and arrived to find a garage fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters were dispatched shortly before 11:25 p.m. and had the blaze extinguished within about a half-hour.

Battalion Chief Eddie Hales said four people were treated for smoke inhalation. Two of them were transported to American Fork Hospital, where they were treated and later released.

Hales said that although the garage is attached to the home, the fire didn’t extend into the main structure; however, the residents have been temporarily displaced due to smoke and water damage. A local family took them in, he said.

Hales estimated damage to the home at $100,000.

The cause of the fire has not been determined and is still under investigation.
