SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Feb. 24, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — Crews contained a fuel spill near the University of Utah Hospital Wednesday morning.
“Our emergency management team received word around 6:30 a.m. that there had been a fuel spill from our central plant, located to the southeast of the hospital,” said a statement released by U of U Health. “Hazmat crews, as well as Salt Lake City Fire Department, were immediately called to the scene.”
It was found that a total of 402 gallons of fuel had been spilled. The scene was contained by 8 a.m.
“There was no impact to either operations or patient care,” the statement said. No evacuations were required.
It was determined that the cause of the spill was a faulty valve.
