LA VERKIN, Utah, Aug. 20, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A brush fire near La Verkin in Washington County has burned between five and 10 acres, officials said Tuesday afternoon.

The fire is burning in the area of 1000 N. State St., said a tweet from Utah Fire Info at 3 p.m.

“Burning near structures early on, but local fire crews worked to keep fire from threatening them,” the tweet said.

Aircraft are en route to assist in the firefighting efforts, said the tweet.

There are no evacuations at this time, officials said.

The fire is human caused and the exact cause is under investigation.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
