SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – October 1, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Fire crews from five departments battled a two-alarm fire on West Temple that caused $30,000 in damage Thursday afternoon.
Crews from South Salt Lake, Murray City, Unified Fire, West Valley City and Salt Lake City were called to reports of a man trapped on the roof of a business and two other people unaccounted for at about 1:30 p.m.
The occupants of the business, a body shop, had tried to battle the blaze with fire extinguishers, and South Salt Lake Battalion Chief Terry Addison said the man got stuck between a door and the fire and could not get out. Crews were able to locate him and the two other people.
Addison said the fire started on a deck behind the business, and caused about $30,000 worth of damage.
West Temple was closed in both directions between 3300 South and 3900 South while crews battled the fire.
