Crews from Layton, Hill AFB respond to house fire

LAYTON, Utah, Feb. 26, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A house fire in the area of Alfred Drive and North Gregory Drive (1740 North and 1750 West) brought out Layton fire crews late Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters were dispatched at 5:29 p.m., and smoke and flames were visible when they arrived, according to information from Layton Fire Department on Twitter. Crews from Hill Air Force Base also were on scene.

The fire was quickly knocked down and under control. An all-clear was declared at about 6:15 p.m. and crews were completing overhaul procedures.

Initially it was reported that someone was possibly trapped or missing in the house; however, Layton fire crews confirmed that the owner/occupant was not home at the time of the fire and is safe with family members.

Investigators are currently on scene to determine the cause of the fire.

A dollar estimate of damage to the home was not immediately available.
