MURRAY, UTAH (Gephardt Daily Staff) – A number of fire departments jumped into action Saturday night to put out a one and a half acre fire along the Jordan River Parkway.

The fire was reported just before 10 p.m. on the east bank of the river north of 4500 South.

According to the Unified Fire Authority the fire was burning in dried grass and oak along the riverbank.

It took 5 companies of firefighters from Unified Fire, Murray, South Salt Lake and other departments about 20 minutes to contain the flames and put them out.

There were no injuries and while it was close to a number of hotels, UFA tells Gephardt Daily they were never in any danger and there was no need to evacuate guests.

The Murray Fire Department is handling the mop up and investigating the cause of the fire.

This story will be updated when that cause is released.
