OGDEN, Utah, June 28, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Ogden City Fire Department crews responded to a structure fire at a chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Friday morning.

The call was dispatched at 10:35 a.m., and crews were sent to 550 E. 900 North, a statement from the OCFD says.

Twenty firefighters were sent to the scene, as were two ladder trucks, two engines, one paramedic rescue, one ambulance, one deputy fire marshal, one fire marshal and the battalion chief.

“Upon arrival, crews reported smoke coming from the building,” the statement says. “Crews made entry and extinguished the fire, which was isolated to one wing of the church. No occupants were inside the structure upon fire department arrival.”

The fire did an estimated $40,000 in damages, the statement says. The cause of the fire was not immediately determined.

Because the fire was at a church building, officials from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the Utah Fire Marshal’s Office are assisting the Ogden City Fire Department in the investigation, the statement says.
