Grantsville High football coach charged with sexual battery, lewdness involving two students

GRANTSVILLE, Utah, Sept. 7, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Curtis Lee Ware, the head football coach and substitute teacher at Grantsville High School, was charged Wednesday with nine counts of misdemeanor sexual battery and lewdness.

Ware was arrested Sept. 2 in connection with incidents involving two female students, ages 16 and 17. According to reports, an investigation determined there was never skin-to-skin contact with in Grantsville between Curtis and the girls.

Ware — who is 47, a Grantsville High alumnus and a Stansbury Park resident — will be tried on five class A misdemeanor counts of sexual battery, and four class B misdemeanor counts of lewdness related to incidents that allegedly happened between May 23 and Aug. 26.

Some illegal activity allegedly took place in Cedar City as well. The Iron County Attorney’s office is expected to review the case and consider charges.
