DASH CAM: Two Trucks Collide in Box Elder County, Closing I-15 for Hours

BOX ELDER COUNTY, UTAH – September 5, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) –The public can now see video footage from the dash camera that was mounted to a FedEx truck showing a collision between two triple-trailer semi trucks on I-15 in Box Elder County Friday morning.

According to Utah Highway Patrol officers, a USF Redway semi, hauling three trailers, had apparently been traveling northbound and went through the median and cable barrier. It rolled across southbound I-15 when a FedEx truck, also hauling three trailers, was travelling southbound and came into the dust. It hit one of the trailers of the first semi.

Troopers were called to the scene around 3 a.m. Friday and found the collision had spread sheet rock and oil all over the freeway. They were forced to divert traffic onto SR-89 until the wreckage was cleaned up around 8 a.m.

The injured driver of the first semi was transported to Brigham City Hospital with a non-life-threatening head injury.

The cause of the initial rollover is still under investigation.
