UPDATE: Davis Co. Shooting Victim Identified


WEST POINT, UTAH,  March 16, 2015 – (Gephardt Daily) The man who died after a shooting in West Point has been identified by police.

Randy Lennell Lewis, 29, died after being shot in the torso at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, according to the Davis County Sheriff’s Office. The shooting was reportedly the result of a fight between the ex-boyfriend and current boyfriend of a woman living in the home where the incident took place.

Lewis is from Kansas City, Missouri, according to investigators. The alleged shooter, Jory Fenstermaker, was arrested Sunday after a multi-agency search. Officials said he turned himself in to law enforcement in Farmington and was arrested on suspicion of criminal homicide.

According to the Davis County Sheriff’s Office, 21 year-old Fenstermaker was taken into custody Sunday afternoon after turning himself in. Earlier the day search for Fenstermaker involved a UHP helicopter, as well as K-9 units.

Davis County Sheriff Deputy, Sgt. DeeAnn Servey told Gephardt Daily that the victim was shot in the abdomen during a domestic dispute shortly after midnight in home at 3200 West 850 North.

He was rushed to Davis Hospital and Medical Center where he died a short time later.

After the shooting, Sgt. Servey said Fenstermaker fled the scene, prompting sheriff’s dispatchers to make reverse 911 calls residents advising them to keep their doors locked and remain in their homes.
