DAVIS COUNTY, Utah, Jan. 31, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Davis County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue has sent out a brief but pointed message for any potential winter hikers:
“Don’t go up a canyon trail without microspikes! The End.”
The group posted that directive on its Facebook page on Wednesday, following a successful multi-agency effort to bring a stranded hiker down off Adams Canyon trail.
The 68-year-old man had been hiking with his family on Wednesday afternoon when he slipped on ice at a steep part of the trail. He fell, injuring his hip.
The victim was rescued “in decent shape,” according to a video shared on the group’s Facebook page.
It took about 90 minutes from when crews arrived to when the man was brought out by medical helicopter.
“Another great example of multiple agencies combining and getting the job done!,” a post on the Davis County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue page says.
“A special thanks to: Layton Fire, LifeFlight, Davis County Sheriff
and our guys for making short work of today’s rescue.”
Seriously. Spikes are a must this time of year.
