Davis County Sheriff’s Office warns public of phone scam

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, July 31, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Davis County Sheriff’s Office officials are warning the public of a phone scam.

“If you receive a call from someone claiming to be with Salt Lake City Police Department, informing you a family member has been in an accident, and requesting payment information over the phone, hang up and do NOT provide any information,” said a tweet from the Sheriff’s Office. “This is a PHONE SCAM.”

  1. Anyone who get calls from someone asking for any kind of payment over the phone, should just hang up. Police department and another government institution will send you letter if they want to notify you something important. I have just Googled up about this scam and found some reports filed by people at https://www.whycall.me/216-539-5360.html since few months ago. We need to keep spreading the word about these scams to our family.
