SOUTH JORDAN, Utah, June 10, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — The Annual Ride the Brainwave event, a fundraiser to help support families caring for children fighting serious illnesses, is this Saturday, June 11, in South Jordan.

The all-day event is an opportunity for the community to help families who have children affected by brain injuries, brain cancer, chronic illnesses and other disorders.

This year’s event will feature a 5K, motorcycle rally, carnival, princess tea party, skydivers, a casino night for adults and many other activities for the kids. There will also be vendors and food and drinks.

The benefit will also have a concert featuring Country Star Ty Herndon, The Wayne Hoskins Band, a country and Americana Band from Salt Lake City, Jagertown and Phoenix Rising.

Several drawings will be held, as will a silent auction.

The Brainwave is the biggest annual fundraiser non-profit organization Children and the Earth. The funds raised help families pay for things like house payments, gas to get their children back and forth to the hospital for treatments or even the treatments themselves.

“What many don’t realize is how having a child with a terminal or chronic illness can affect others financially and we are here to help them,” said Amy Horsley, honorary board member for Children and the Earth.

“For families who live far way like Logan and Utah County, the travel expenses, including gas and hotel accommodations just to get treatment for their children really adds up,” said Horsley. “Many of these children have siblings who still need to be cared for and the time off work needed for these parents to care for a sick child can make affording adequate care difficult.”

The event will be held at the South Jordan Equestrian Park, located at 11400 S. 2100 West and runs from 8 a.m. until midnight. For more information about Ride the Brainwave 2016, visit the website at ChildrenandtheEarth.com.
