SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Jan. 7, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for parts of Northern Utah Sunday evening.

The warning, which is effect until 8 a.m. Monday, is for the Salt Lake and Tooele Valleys, including Brigham City, Ogden, Bountiful, Salt Lake City and Tooele.

“Areas of fog are expected to become more widespread across portions of northern and western Utah again tonight,” the NWS website says.

“Some of the fog will be locally dense with visibilities down to a few hundred feet. The fog will mainly form around the Great Salt Lake and across the northwestern and west central Utah valleys tonight. Use caution while driving in these areas including along I-15 from the Idaho border south to Cove Fort, and along I-80 from Salt Lake City west to Wendover.”

The advisory adds that dense fog is expected to continue into Monday morning.

“Low visibilities will cause difficult driving conditions across these areas through the Monday morning commute,” the advisory continues. “Dense fog will continue to impact I-15 in Salt Lake, Davis, Weber and Box Elder Counties as well as I-80 from Salt Lake City to the Great Salt Lake Desert.

“Legacy Parkway will also be impacted. Increase distances, use low beams and reduce speeds.”

A Dense Fog Advisory means visibilities will frequently be reduced to less than one quarter mile.
