Dog shot by WVC officer executing search warrant

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Oct. 9, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — West Valley City police said a dog was shot Wednesday morning as officers executed a search warrant.

The warrant was being served at approximately 8:45 a.m. when the incident occurred, the WVCPD said in a tweet.

“Following the execution of a search warrant by our SWAT team, a dog on scene broke free from its tie-up and charged an officer prompting the officer to fire his weapon,” the tweet said.

The dog was injured. It has been picked up by animal control and is receiving medical attention, the tweet said.

Officials did not say where or why the search warrant was being executed. The sequence of events leading up to the shooting was also not released by officials.

  1. That’s nice poor lady dig dies cause cops won’t help her with the dog they shoot! And vet says pay for it or he dies poor lady loved her service dog!
