UTAH, Nov. 7, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — If you didn’t have the abs to join in social media’s planking trend, the moves to take on the Harlem Shake, or the stamina to do Running Man, there’s a new craze you may find to be just your speed.
It’s called the Mannequin Challenge. You and your friends just strike a pose, then hold it while your buddy with a camera or cell phone wanders through.
Go to YouTube and type in mannequin challenge, and links to more than 4,000 videos will come up. And that’s not even counting the Mannequin Challenge videos posted to Facebook, Twitter or private websites.
A Mannequin Challenge video by Brigham Young University’s women’s gymnastic team, posted Nov. 4 on Facebook, already has 2.6 million views.
And a video put out by the University of Utah Football team, posted the same day but on Twitter, has more than a thousand shares.
The BYU Gymastics video has been singled out by ESPN in an article that says the team just “won” the challenge. See the video below.
ESPN has yet to take notice of the Ute football team’s noble effort, but it’s still popular with fans. See it below.
