SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Sept. 22, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The man FBI investigators believe to be the “Double Hat Bandit” has been caught.

Officials on Thursday arrested Shayne Carson, 54, in the parking lot of a motel in Whiteland, Ind., according to a statement from the Salt Lake City office of the FBI.

Carson has been charged with the robbery of a U.S. Bank in West Valley City on Dec. 19, 2016. He is also an established suspect in 13 other robberies in Utah, Washington, Oregon, Colorado and Idaho between December of 2016 and July 22 of this year. The suspect in many of those cases wore two hats and brandished a gun.

In addition, Carson is a possible suspect in robberies in Colorado, Iowa and Ohio.

Carson made his initial court appearance Friday in Indiana. Officials expect to bring him back to Utah to face charges here, the news release says.
