Downed power line sparks fire in Provo home, endangers 2 others

PROVO, Utah, Nov. 2, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A downed high-voltage wire sparked a fire in a Provo home Friday morning.

The fire, in the structure’s crawl space, was reported at 9:51 a.m. at 170 West and 80 South.

The Provo Fire Department reported that two other houses, at 1766 and 1782 W. 80 South, were also affected.

A power outage was reported in a large area west of the addresses. Both Dominion energy and Provo city power were on scene, a statement released in the late morning by the fire department said.

  1. The firefighters deemed the home “ground zero” and it is the home of my daughter. My two oldest sons and two other roommates rent the home from my oldest daughter and son-in-law while the attend UVU. It was their quick thinking that the home/homes in that area weren’t damaged more than they were. If you’d like more information of the story behind the story, feel free to email me. :)
