DRAPER, Utah, March 2, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have arrested a suspect after an aggravated robbery at a Draper tanning shop Monday night.

A man entered Golden Tan located at 1144 E. Draper Parkway (12300 S.) Monday at approximately 9:30 p.m., demanding money, according to a news release from Draper City Police Department.

The man grabbed a customer from behind, implied he had a weapon, and demanded the Golden Tan employee give him money, the news release said.

After the robber received the money, the man, while still holding the customer, demanded she give him her car keys. He left the area in the victim’s vehicle.

During the investigation, Draper Police collaborated with Utah Transit Authority (UTA) Police and located video of the suspect on a TRAX train. A UTA police officer recognized the suspect as someone he believed to be William Russell Jackson, 43, who had previously made a stolen wallet report.

Draper and UTA investigators called Jackson Wednesday at approximately 3 p.m. and told him they had recovered his wallet. They asked him to come to the UTA police station to retrieve it. When Jackson arrived, Draper investigators placed him under arrest for the robberies and vehicle theft. Police say Jackson confessed to the robberies and to stealing the vehicle.

Jackson was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for two counts of aggravated robbery and vehicle theft.
