SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – August 19, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Salt Lake City Police say a 16-year-old boy lucky to be alive after being shot in the chest during a drive by shooting Tuesday evening.

According to Salt Lake Police Detective Dennis McGowen, the shooting occurred around 7 p.m. near 1619 West Ivy Circle in Salt Lake when two males were outside in front of a residence when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside confronted the teens, implying gang affiliation.

“The teen said he does not know the men who shot him and the only description is there were four younger Hispanic males driving a newer model red four door sedan,” said McGowen.

The teen is still listed in serious condition at University Hospital.

The gang unit has taken over the investigation.
