ST. GEORGE, Utah, Nov. 20, 2016, (Gephardt Daily) —  An intoxicated driver, who apparently didn’t see the emergency flares and flashing lights warning motorists of a crash involving a different intoxicated driver, struck the back of a UHP trooper’s vehicle Saturday night on Interstate 15.

According to a news release from Utah Highway Patrol, a crash with no injuries occurred at about 11 p.m. on I-15 northbound near mile marker 13 in St. George.

Troopers had the left lane blocked, and traffic was moving by in the right lane.

The release states that while the driver involved in the crash was being arrested for driving under the influence, a gray Ford Focus drove through the lane closure, “paying no attention to the emergency flares, or flashing lights, and struck the back of the trooper’s patrol car.”

The trooper was out of his vehicle when it was hit, and there were no injuries. The driver of the Ford Focus was arrested for DUI.
