Driver critically injured, extricated after car hits pole, crashes into porch in West Valley City

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, April 20, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was transported to the hospital in critical condition Saturday night after his car left the road, crashed into a power pole and landed on the front porch of a house in West Valley City.

Sgt. Tyler Longman, West Valley City Police Department, told Gephardt Daily the single-vehicle crash occurred just after 7 p.m. as the car was headed east on 3500 South and left the roadway at about 5371 West.

The driver, who is approximately 30 years old, had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was the car’s only occupant, and Longman said he is in critical but stable condition.

The accident is still under investigation, and it isn’t known why the car went off the road.

Police are looking at impairment as a possible factor.
