FAIRFIELD, Utah, May 15, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The driver of a garbage truck died early Wednesday morning in an accident at a Utah County landfill.
First responders from the Utah County Sheriff‘s Office and the Unified Fire Authority were called to the Intermountain Regional Landfill, west of Utah Lake, at about 5 a.m.
The accident involved two semi garbage trucks. The two were side by side when one, with its dump bed fully extended, moved forward and hit a soft spot.
The semi tipped and landed on the cab of the other semi, inflicting fatal injuries to the driver. The victim was a 60-year-old man from Lehi.
