Driver, passenger ejected, transported to hospital after box truck hits mountain in Weber County

WEBER COUNTY, Utah, Jan. 16, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) -- The driver of a delivery truck lost control Thursday afternoon, and hit a mountainside, ejecting the box truck's driver and passenger.

Weber County Sheriff deputies were among the first responders called at 3:30 p.m. to the scene, near 5300 N. Powder Mountain Road, north of Eden.

"One patient was transported to a local hospital by medical helicopter and one patient was transported by ambulance," a Weber County Sheriff news release says. Their conditions were not disclosed.

"Powder Mountain Road was shut down completely for approximately one hour while crews attended to the patients. One lane of traffic has since been open but traffic is slow.

"We would like to thank all the citizens who stopped to help the patients and to Weber Fire District, LifeFlight and Utah Highway Patrol for assisting in this crash."
