MILLARD COUNTY, Utah, Dec. 22, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A Utah Highway Patrol trooper who stopped to help a motorist Thursday was still in his patrol car when another driver lost control and slammed into the trooper’s vehicle at about 78 mph.

Trooper Jeff Rowell’s vehicle was struck at 1:30 p.m. near milepost 139, in southeastern Millard County. Rowell was advising the UHP control center in Richfield of his location when the collision occured.

Rowell suffered minor injuries. He was treated at Fillmore Hospital, and was released.

The motorist whose vehicle struck the patrol car suffered no injuries, and was cited for driving too fast for road conditions.
