WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Sept. 2, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Police responded to two accidents Friday night, both involving the same vehicle.

West Valley City Police Sgt. Scott Arnold told Gephardt Daily that just prior to 9:30 p.m., police were dispatched to a hit-and-run traffic accident in the area of 3800 South and 4000 West. They responded to the scene and set out looking for the suspect vehicle but were unable to locate it.

Then a second call came in — a second accident involving the same truck.

“It appears the suspect was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed, failed to negotiate an eastbound turn, and collided with the front of a residence,” Arnold said.

Officers responded to 3762 Bawden Ave., where the truck had plowed into the home’s front porch.

Arnold said the driver of the truck was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, “mostly as a precaution because the airbags deployed.”

The entire incident was still under investigation late Friday night, but Arnold said it appears that alcohol may have been a factor. No one else was injured in either crash.

Arnold said it was probably too soon to try to estimate the dollar amount of damage to the house.
