SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, July 15, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Drivers are being urged to avoid the area of southbound Interstate 15 in the area of 1000 North after a person was hit by a car Monday morning.

A tweet from the Utah Department of Transportation said the incident, which occurred at approximately 11:15 a.m., is blocking all three right lanes in the area of mile post 310.

The person that was hit is in critical condition, officials said, and it appears at this early stage the incident may have been a suicide attempt.

There are significant delays in the area and drivers are being urged to take alternate routes, officials said.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.

We do not usually report on suicides or suicide attempts unless they occur in public places or otherwise impact a community.
