DUCHESNE, Utah, Nov. 12, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Duchesne man is facing a charge of felony kidnapping after allegedly holding a woman against her will for days, threatening her life when she tried to run away.

A probable cause statement from the 8th District Court of Duchesne County said Garren Thomas Breach, 60, is facing charges of:

  • Kidnapping, a second-degree felony
  • Assault, a class B misdemeanor
  • Threat of violence, a class B misdemeanor
  • Possession of a controlled substance, marijuana/spice, a class B misdemeanor
  • Use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor

The arresting officer was dispatched to a welfare check at approximately 19000 W. 500 South in Duchesne on Nov. 6.

“Upon my arrival I could see a broken window on the door of the trailer,” the statement said. “As I approached I could hear the owner of the trailer speaking to someone and asked that he would come speak with me. I identified the owner as Garren Breach. He came out of the trailer asking me to remove the woman who was inside.”

After multiple requests the woman came out of the trailer.

“Upon seeing the woman, I could see that she was moving as if she was in extreme pain,” the statement said. “When asked about what had happened the victim claimed she had been beaten and that she had attempted to get away. We removed her from speaking distance from the owner. She stated she had been in a consensual sexual relationship with the owner in the past.”

Upon her arrival to the trailer Breach allegedly took her cell phone, separated the battery from the phone and then threw the phone into the brush, the statement said. He forced her to take her clothes off so she could not escape. He kept her intentionally against her will inside his trailer for multiple days, officials said.

“She attempted to run multiple times, on foot screaming for help attempting to draw attention, at which point the owner would chase her threatening her life by stating he would kill her and that she would not leave with her life and force her to the ground hitting her and shoving dirt into her face,” the statement said. “He would than drag her back in a bear hug to his trailer.”

Throughout the three or four days the victim was with the owner he would hit her and tell her he would kill her with a rubber mallet, the statement said. He placed her in handcuffs and also placed a gag inside her mouth. He then hit her repeatedly in the body.

“We placed her inside my patrol vehicle to stay warm to speak to the owner of the trailer,” the statement said. “I asked if I could speak to the owner and he consented to me coming into his trailer. As I stepped into his trailer I could see a bong and the owner claimed it was his. We asked him if he had her cell phone and he stated he had thrown in it into the bushes. We told him we needed the cell phone and he started looking and he opened a cabinet and stated that the weed was his.”

Breach then admitted to taking her clothing as well, and stated he had sex with her to calm her down throughout the time she had been there. I asked him if had hit her and he denied it but said he did bear hug her and detained her.
