DWR officials seek tips on illegal killing of bighorn ram in Kane County

KANE COUNTY, Utah, Nov. 7, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is looking for information on the person or people who illegally shot and killed a bighorn ram and left it to waste near Mount Carmel Junction.

The ram’s remains were found on Oct. 20.

“The individual(s) who shot the ram were on the main Barracks ATV trail, near marker 12.8. The ram was shot through both lungs, and the bullet exited the animal’s left side,” a DWR statement says.

“Utahns value wildlife, and poaching is a serious crime. If you have information related to this case, or information about any other wildlife crime, please callĀ 1-800-662-3337.”

A monetary reward may be available to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for killing this animal. Requests for confidentiality will be honored., the statement says.
