EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah, June 16, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — Eagle Mountain officials announced Tuesday night fireworks have been banned for this summer’s major holidays.
“Given persistent dry conditions, high winds, warmer temperatures and limited water resources, the Eagle Mountain City Council tonight approved a resolution prohibiting fireworks in Eagle Mountain during the July 4 and July 24 (Pioneer Day) holiday celebrations,” said a Facebook post Tuesday night.
The City Council also restricted open flame fires in undeveloped areas.
“This decision puts Eagle Mountain in line with state-level decisions to restrict activities that increase the chances for wildfires in Utah County,” the post said. “Standard pit fires in private, residential landscaped areas will continue to be permitted. The city is currently exploring options to provide some form of entertainment during the holiday celebrations. We will provide more information as it becomes available.”
