Early morning fire causes $40k in damage to Ogden motor home

OGDEN, Utah, Oct. 1, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Ogden fire crews were called to the scene of a motor home in flames early Monday morning.

Firefighters were called at 2:59 a.m. and arrived at 355 W. 12th St. to find the RV fully engulfed and sending clouds of smoke into the pre-dawn sky.

Deputy Chief Eric Bauman said the individual who was living in the motor home was transported to the hospital, but Bauman had no details as to the person’s identity or their condition.

Ogden police also responded to the scene, and although traffic at that hour was light and the roadway was open, drivers were unsure about passing the many emergency vehicles that lined 12th Street. Officers answered their questions and gave them the OK to proceed.

Bauman said crews were able to get the fire extinguished rapidly. No other structures were involved and no firefighters were injured.

He estimated damages at $40,000 and said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The motor home was parked near a commercial structure, but Bauman didn’t think it had any relation to the business.
