Early morning fire destroys barn in Magna, firefighter suffers minor injuries

MAGNA, Utah, Dec. 24, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Unified Fire Authority responded to a structure fire in the early hours of Monday morning after receiving a call reporting a barn ablaze in Magna.

UFA Public Information Officer Ryan Love said the barn, at 2900 S. 8000 West, was fully involved when firefighters arrived at about 1:45 a.m., and the structure had collapsed.

“It was an old barn,” he said.

Firefighters were able knock down the flames within 15 minutes.

No animals were inside the structure, which was undergoing renovation.

An adjacent outbuilding was also burned.

A firefighter received minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
