SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Nov. 8, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Elections Office is offering advice to people heading out to vote today.

The office is reminding voters to submit ballots to local polling locations, their county clerk’s office, or a designated drop box in their county by no later than 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Polls will be open Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. All eligible voters who are in line by 8 p.m. will be allowed to cast a ballot. In keeping with Utah Code 20A-3-103, employers within the state are required to allow certain employees time off to cast a ballot.

Polls will remain open until each voter in line at 8 p.m. has voted, and then preliminary results will be posted to electionresults.utah.gov. Updated results will be released at 3 p.m. on Nov. 10, 15, 18, and 22.

Per statute, county clerks will certify final election results for all races no later than Nov. 22. The Utah State Canvassing Board will certify results at noon on Nov. 28, and presidential electors will cast their ballots in the official electoral college at noon on Dec. 19.

Voters seeking information can go to vote.utah.gov to find their polling location and sample ballots, as well as information about candidates, judges and ballot propositions.
