SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Feb. 18, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Emigration Canyon is closed to traffic after a power line and a tree were downed due to high winds at about noon Thursday.

Doug Rice, a captain with Unified Fire Authority, said the incident happened near 2800 East.

“Because of the weather and the traffic, we’ve had to shut down the road and divert traffic onto a residential street that was promptly blocked by a beverage truck that was attempting to deliver to Ruth’s Diner,” said Rice.

“At this point we have traffic shut down with an unestimated time of opening.”

Rice said the situation was exacerbated by the snow and heavier traffic than anticipated.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as it becomes available.
