FARMINGTON, Utah, Jan. 22, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Cache County Jail inmate who escaped custody while on a work detail has been recaptured in Farmington.

“Joshua Aders, the inmate who walked away from a jail work assignment and stole a vehicle, has been captured and booked into the Davis County Jail,” says a statement issued by Cache County Sheriff D. Chad Jensen on Tuesday morning.

“He was arrested by AP&P last night in Davis County. The stolen truck was found parked in an alley by Salt Lake City PD. The vehicle will be returned to the American West Heritage Center.”

Aders escaped on Thursday morning, according to an earlier Cache County news release.

“He was working as part of a Community Work Project where inmates that have a history of good behavior are allowed to volunteer,” that statement said. “During this work shift, at approximately 11:45 a.m., Mr. Aders stole a pickup truck and drove away.”

Aders was scheduled to be released from jail in May 2019, after serving a sentence on charges of fraud, theft, failure to appear warrants, and drug-related crimes.
