Juab County Wildfire Completely Contained

JUAB COUNTY, Utah, June 14, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A wildfire in Juab County that started Thursday is 100 percent contained, according to officials.

According to a social media post by @UtahWildfire, the North Moore fire was completely contained by 7:30 a.m. Tuesday and is now being handled by the Bureau of Land Management. @UtahWildfire added that three engines and 15 people would remain to manage the fire.

The fire was located in the Cherry Creek area of Juab County, about 25 miles southwest of Eureka.

A total of 140 people were involved in fighting the blaze as of Friday morning and 1,427 acres had burned by 11 a.m. Four crews of workers were using six fire engines, one bulldozer and a helicopter. The blaze was 30 percent contained by Friday, and 70 percent contained by Sunday.

Wind caused the fire to spread quickly after it started at 5 p.m. Thursday, and winds remained a factor on Friday.

People camping in the fire area were safely evacuated Thursday evening.
