Update: Etna Fire in Box Elder County 100% contained

BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah, July 23, 2017 (Gephardt Daily)  — The Etna Fire, which broke out near Grouse Creek in Box Elder County at about 1 p.m. Saturday, is now 100 percent contained, fire officials announced shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday.

The fire had burned 703 acres and was 50 percent contained later Saturday evening, according to Utah Fire Info.

In addition to crews fighting to rein in the blaze, engines, dozers and air tankers were working to protect six structures. Their efforts paid off and there was no structural damage.

At one point, officials estimated the fire had claimed 1,800 acres, but after GPS measurements were taken later in the day, that figure was adjusted to 703 acres.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
