PROVO, Utah, Nov. 12, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A family member of Provo firefighter Aaron White, who died in a fall while hiking in southern Utah, has established a account to pay him tribute and to raise funeral funds.

“Aaron was taken from us far too soon in a hiking accident this weekend, leaving our families devastated and struggling to process this immense loss,” says a GoFundMe account.

“Aaron was more than just a brother; he was a son, a husband, a father, a friend, and a first responder. Aaron was a source of joy and laughter for everyone who knew him. He leaves behind his wife Alaina and three children,” the page says.

White reportedly was hiking the Big Horn Canyon trail in Garfield County with a group of friends at about 6 p.m. Saturday he fell a distance estimated at 30 to 50 feet. His injuries were fatal.

Provo Fire & Rescue shared the news.

“The loss of Firefighter/Paramedic Aaron White is deeply felt by our department. Aaron, who was tragically killed on November 9, 2024, in an accident in the Escalante area of Southern Utah, was a valuable member of our team.

“His positive attitude and infectious smile were a daily inspiration. His absence will be keenly felt. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.”

The agency also shared the GoFundMe account, which can be viewed at this link. As in all cases, Gephardt Daily cannot guarantee funds raised will be used as stated. A GoFundMe guarantee policy states donations are protected and can be disputed for one year.

The family statement continus, “As we navigate this incredibly difficult time, Aaron’s wife and kids are also faced with the financial burden of funeral and memorial costs, as well as the unforeseen expenses that come with such an unexpected tragedy. The funds raised will go directly toward funeral and burial expenses, medical bills and any remaining costs from the accident, supporting our family during this grieving period.

It adds, “Every bit helps, and your kindness means more to us than words can express. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support and compassion. Please keep our family in your thoughts as we honor Aaron and navigate this difficult journey together.”
