Fire causes $3k in damage to abandoned structure in Ogden

OGDEN, Utah, May 20, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Crews from Ogden and Riverdale fire departments responded to a structure fire on the 300 block of 31st Street in Ogden on Monday evening.

Firefighters were dispatched at 6:12 p.m. on a report of smoke coming from the abandoned building, which formerly housed a Christian Center, Centro Cristiano Hidekel.

The fire was under control at 6:32 p.m., according to a tweet from Ogden Fire Department, and crews began ventilating the structure and checking to make sure the flames hadn’t extended into any other areas of the building.

Damage to the structure is estimated at $3,000, according to OFD. There were no injuries.

The fire is still under investigation, and the cause has not yet been determined.

Seventeen firefighters from Ogden and Riverdale responded with two ladder trucks, two engines, a paramedic rescue, an ambulance, and the battalion chief.
