TOOELE COUNTY, Utah, Sept. 3, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A wildfire in Tooele County has grown to 9,900 acres Monday and is 50 percent contained, officials said.

The fire west of the Great Salt Lake was ignited accidentally Saturday afternoon by people who were target shooting in Lakeside, according to Tooele County Fire Warden Dan Walton.

The fire has now been given the name the Lakeside Fire, Walton said.

The blaze grew to approximately 1,800 acres Saturday night and was 3,800 acres by Sunday morning.

No structures have been threatened by the fire, Walton said, and it is expected to be 90 percent contained by Monday evening.

Walton said Provo, Bluffdale and North Tooele Fire are also on scene helping to battle the blaze.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
