BOUNTIFUL, Utah, Jan. 10, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Two occupants of a burning home in Bountiful managed to escape the flames early Thursday afternoon — and so did at least two of five house cats, thanks to the quick work of South Davis County firefighters.

Deputy Fire Chief Dave Powers told Gephardt Daily fire crews were called to a house at 210 S. 350 West just after noon. When firefighters arrived, the two story homes was engulfed in smoke and flames.

Three cats are believed to have died in the blaze, which started on the second floor, but two others, which were overcome by smoke, were revived by firefighters.

Two dogs also escaped the flames.

Powers said 10 firefighters were originally called to the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
