SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Nov. 20, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Salt Lake County man has been charged with four counts of unlawful activity with a minor, a second-degree felony, after he allegedly entered into a relationship with a student who was 15 at the time.
Henry Steven Olson, 23, was 21 at the time of the alleged incident, and was working with a high school debate team as a volunteer coach.
Olson was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on Tuesday. The Salt Lake County resident is being held on $100,000 bail.
“The A/P (accused person) was employed as an assistant debate coach at a local high school,” says the probable cause statement, filed by an officer of the Salt Lake City Police Department.
“The A/P entered into a physical sexual relationship with a 15-year-old female student. This sexual relationship lasted approximately five months, with several sexual encounters in that time.
According to reports, East High Principal Greg Maughan sent a letter to parents Wednesday informing them of the situation.
