TOOELE COUNTY, Utah, April 8, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Five people were transported to the hospital Thursday night after the car they were in rolled on I-80.

Utah Highway Patrol said the accident happened on I-80 when the 35-year-old male driver drifted off the left side of the road, over-corrected to the right, then rotated and slid broadside down the right shoulder, causing the car to roll multiple times.

The driver had four passengers—two males and two females. Those fully ejected were the driver, and one male and one female passenger. One male passenger was partially ejected, and one female passenger — the only person wearing a seatbelt — was not ejected, and suffered only minor injuries.

Three people were taken by medical helicopter to the hospital and two were taken by ground ambulance.

Speed and alcohol are being investigated as the cause of the crash.
