SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, April 2, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Seven vehicles were involved in three accidents at the same time, at the same location Saturday afternoon.on I-15.
Sgt. Chad Hecker, Utah Highway Patrol, said the three accidents all happened within a couple hundred feet of each other near 2600 South.
“The first accident was a three-car collision that started when one car ran into the side of another one and made it spin out, that car then went into another vehicle,” Hecker said. “Another vehicle coming in too fast then impacted one of the first three cars before hitting a fifth vehicle.”
Shortly after the second accident, another car rear-ended a vehicle as they approached the scene of the first accident. In all, seven cars were significantly damaged but Hecker said he is grateful no one was injured.
The investigation is ongoing. It is not known if alcohol or drugs were involved but, Hecker said it appears following too close, and speed are the main factors in all the collisions.
