TOOELE, Utah, Sept. 28, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A 51-year-old man was arrested in Tooele Wednesday after a Tooele City Police officer noticed him walking on a sidewalk and knew he was wanted on warrants from Adult Probation and Parole.
The man arrested was Chad Eugene Ginter.
“During my arrest and search of Mr. Ginter, I located three Katana style swords he had concealed in his pants. I observed these three swords had sharp edges and were dangerous weapons. Also during my search I located a glass pipe with burnt drug residue and a plastic tooter commonly used for the smoking of illegal substances.”
Ginter was taken to the detention center, where he “informed officers he had intentionally ingested three fentanyl pills after seeing officers and knowing they were going to arrest him. With Mr. Ginter ingesting these pills he intentionally destroyed evidence which would’ve been enhanced charges against him based on his criminal history.
“I observed Mr. Ginter was a restricted person with him being on class A probation and was restricted from possessing any dangerous or deadly weapons.”
Ginter was booked for investigation of:
- Three counts of possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, a third-degree felony
- Obstruction of justice, a third-degree felony
- Use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor
If the case goes to trial, the County Attorney’s Office will determine the charges and their severity.
