Garfield County rescue crews save calf from canyon

GARFIELD COUNTY, Utah, July 29, 2020 (Gephardt Daily) — The art of calf roping was taken to new heights in southern Utah Tuesday as Garfield County Search and Rescue crews went to all out in saving a calf which become trapped in a canyon steep canyon near Bryce National Park.

“We received a call to dispatch stating that there was a calf in a canyon and it could not get out,” said a Facebook post from Garfield County Sheriff’s Office.

“Sheriff Perkins had dispatch call out Garfield County Search and Rescue rope rescue team to go and rescue the calf. The dedicated team went into the canyon, hooked the calf up to the lift and successfully pulled the calf to safety.”

The calf is healthy and has been reunited with its mother, the post said.

“Garfield County Search and Rescue team is amazing and will always go and help people or animals when they are called,” the post said.
