DRAPER, Utah, July 15, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A 13-year-old girl was the subject of a search Sunday evening after she got separated from her family while hiking in the Suncrest area.

Sgt. Mike Todd, Draper City Police Department, said the teen was missing for almost five hours, and the Utah Highway Patrol helicopter was called out to do an aerial search for her.

It all ended happily, though.

“She hiked out to a Chevron station in the Utah County area and called from there to let everyone know she was OK,” Todd told Gephardt Daily. “She’s home safe, no injuries.”

He said the girl was familiar with the area because her family hikes there frequently.
